This finish is the go-to solution for a traditional, highly textured aesthetic with maximum durability. The application method involves pressing clean, natural stone chips into a specially formulated, polymer-modified backing layer. Unlike wet dash, the stones in the “dry dash” system remain exposed, creating a thick, rugged surface often described as a protective shield. This dense, aggregate-heavy finish is incredibly resilient against physical impacts and severe weather. Additionally, its coarse profile is ideal for covering up structural imperfections or unevenness on older brickwork, providing a solid and forgiving façade.

5 - MECHANICAL SYSTEM FIXINGS - White plastic anchors with large, flat circular heads mechanically fastened into the wall. These fixings enhance the structural security of the entire render build-up.
6 - SECOND PASS OF BASE ADHESIVE RENDER (smoothing) (approx. 3mm) - A further grey layer of adhesive render applied over the mesh to fully enclose it. This coat is finished smooth and even, creating an ideal surface for priming.
7 - SILICONE PRIMER (white or coloured) - A thin, paint-like primer coat used to regulate absorption and optimise adhesion of the finishing layer. It is typically white or tinted in a lighter tone than the final render colour to ensure consistency.
8 - SILICONE RENDER / TOP COAT (1.5–2mm) - The external silicone-based finishing coat applied at 1.5–2mm thickness. It contains fine aggregate that creates a subtle texture visible at close range, while maintaining a smooth and uniform look from a distance. The chosen colour is generally slightly darker than the primer beneath.

Technically advanced, silicone render is breathable yet hydrophobic; it allows moisture to escape from the structure while shedding rain on the surface, which effectively resists dirt accumulation, algae, and colour fading over time.

3 - ENHANCED BASE ADHESIVE RENDER/MORTAR (5–6mm) - A grey adhesive base layer applied at around 5–6mm thickness. This coat creates a stable and level foundation for the reinforcement mesh and subsequent render layers.
4 - REINFORCED, HEAVY-DUTY FIBREGLASS, CRACK-RESISTANT MESH (2mm) - A strong fibreglass mesh embedded within the basecoat to enhance flexibility and crack resistance. It helps distribute stresses evenly across the façade.

5 - MECHANICAL SYSTEM FIXINGS - Large-headed white mechanical fixings driven into the wall to firmly secure the render system and provide additional resistance to external forces.
6 - SECOND PASS OF BASE ADHESIVE RENDER (smoothing) - An additional grey render layer installed over the reinforced base. In roughcasting, this coat is horizontally scratched using a wire comb tool, forming grooves that improve the mechanical bond for the following layer.
7 - DASH RECEIVER / EXPOSED RENDER (approx. 10mm) - A thick white render coat applied at approximately 10mm depth. It acts as the receiving layer for the aggregate and provides the necessary body to hold the stones securely in place.
8 - DRY DASH / STONES/CHIPS/AGGREGATES - The final decorative layer consisting entirely of natural stone chips, typically an 80% white and 20% black blend. The stones are cast onto the wet dash receiver, producing a coarse, traditional and highly weather-resistant finish.
